As a reaction to the death of fraternity member Lynn Gordon Bailey and CU's reputation as a "party school", Chancellor Richard Byyny is asking Boulder officials to stop granting new liquor licenses near the campus.
In a letter to the Boulder License Authority, the Chancellor says there is a direct relationship between the number of alcohol sellers and drinking problems among college students.
The move comes after CU administrators recently required all incoming freshmen to take an online education course.
The school has also started enforcing a 2-strike policy of suspending students after their second liquor violation.
