A Fort Carson soldier faces charges linked to detonating an explosive in his backyard.
Neighbors heard a loud noise at 20 year-old Bradley Gruters' house in Fountain Friday night.
Fountain Police Chief John Morse says the noise was a grenade simulator - a tool Fort Carson does not allow soldiers to take off post or own on their own.
No one was hurt and no homes were damaged.
Bradley Gruters, with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, was released to military police.
