A state advocacy group has filed an injunction to stop the use of a new state computer program designed to streamline the application process for potential welfare recipients.

The new program called the Colorado Benefits Management System or CMBS, went online September 1st at a taxpayer cost of $130 million.

On Thursday, the Colorado Center on Law and Policy filed a preliminary injunction to stop the system from being used until it's working properly. The same group is also backing a class action lawsuit.

Since the Colorado Department of Human Services began using the new system, some welfare recipients have been unable to get their benefits and others have been kicked out of the system.

A hearing on the injunction is scheduled to begin Friday.
