Southern Colorado Remembers

The Air Force Academy, United States Olympic Committee, Salvation Army and the University of Southern Colorado held ceremonies to help people reunite and remember, and look for a brighter future.

Through thick fog, more than 4,000 cadets took time to thank and honor those fighting on the front lines of America's War on Terrorism.

In another ceremony, at the Olympic Training Center, there were two moments of silence, before seven white balloons were released above the Olympic flame. The balloons were dedicated to the heroes in the four planes that crashed, and the victims at the World Trade Center Towers, at the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania.

The Memorial Park gathering included city and county leaders and music. 3,000 balloons were released at the end of the ceremony.

In Pueblo, folks gathered at the University of Southern Colorado. There was a banner signing and presentations by the American Red Cross.
