(Canon City-AP) -- State health department officials are partially lifting a ban on radioactive materials being shipped to the Cotter Corporation mill in Canon City.
Officials say Cotter will be allowed to receive 1500 cubic yards of waste from a mine near Golden that's being decommissioned.
The Canon City facility also will be allowed to accept 825 cubic yards of calcium fluoride from the Metropolis facility in Illinois.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment barred Cotter from shipping wastes to Canon City, because of worker safety concerns uncovered in a routine inspection earlier in the year.
Health department spokesman Douglas Benevento says worker safety is still a concern and the mill won't be allowed into full production until the issues are cleared up.
