Colorado Springs Among The Best For Fall Foliage

The high temperatures may suggest otherwise, but Wednesday marks the first day of fall.

With the changing of the seasons comes the changing of the colors. For those seeking the most colorful places in Colorado, forest officials say the Pikes Peak Ranger District in Colorado Springs is among the best.

Other top locations for fall foliage include Gold Camp Road along Highway 67 and the area west of Pueblo near Lake Isabel.

Officials say that colors should be at their peak this weekend.

The first day of fall in Colorado is Thursday. At the autumnal equinox (Sept. 22, 2010, 1:09 A.M. MST), the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator, from north to south; this marks the beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

It amazes me that when someone says Michigan, the only place you can think of is Detroit! That would be as silly as someone thinking that Colorado is only Denver! But its ok! I lived in MI my entire life minus the last 5 years, and I would take Detroit in the fall over here any day! However, the rest of Michigan is beautiful as well! Geesh!

Now, all we need is Fall. Everyday here recently has been hot and dry, like the desert. Come on, Fall!

Although I love Colorado when the Aspen's are changing, ya'll should check out the Aspen Groves just outside of Flagstaff, Arizona. There are miles and miles of Aspen. Even the Snow Bowl runs for a week; so people can watch the changes! It's INCREDIBLE!

Colorado is nice in the fall, but the midwest and northeast are better. There are more trees and more color.

Yeah, Elaine, as in um Detroit! I grew up there... if you haven't lived there and only rely on news stories you don't know Detroit. Same as anything else... there are gorgeous areas around Detroit as there are Chicago. And I think the city is beautiful as well.
