Small Brush Fire Prompts Closure Of Lewis-Palmer Elementary School

A small brush fire prompted Lewis-Palmer School District 38 officials to close the elementary school Monday.

Lewis-Palmer School District 38 released the following information:
Lewis-Palmer Elementary School will be CLOSED today due to a brush fire near the school. Children in the before school care program and any students already on school buses are being moved to Lewis-Palmer Middle School as a precaution. Students already at bus stops as of 8:21 a.m. will be picked up and taken to LPMS. Families should make arrangements to pick children up at LPMS as soon as possible. All students will be supervised at LPMS until they are picked up by a legal guardian.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says the brush fire was a small fire in someone's yard near the school. The fire was put out quickly and there was minimal damage done. The decision to close the school was made by district officials.

Classes at Lewis-Palmer Elementary School are scheduled to resume on normal schedule Tuesday, September 21.

Exactly not all kids are bad, before you start rambling on about how messed up kids in society are make sure you know exactly what happened. There was one kid stabbing in the history of Monument, its not like this town is becoming dangerous, it was one problem and for all we know its the last, we cant base every little bad accident off of a kid that obviously needed some sort of help.

Hmmm, mara maybe you should reserve passing judgement until you have all the facts? Like how the fire was actually started? It was started by a blown power transformer and not by anyone being reckless, non-empathetic or dysfunctional - let alone kids.

The fire was probably set by a few of the dysfunctional kids that go to the elementary school. Have you noticed how many kids are non-empathetic to others. They have parents that are selfish, who think only of themselves and not their children. This is why we have so many dysfunctional kids that can't tell the difference between right and wrong, and who make very bad choices. No one cares about getting these kids help. Management in apartments ignore this dysfunctional behavior as these dysfunctional kids go through the apartment and trash and destroy everything in sight. When will someone of authority stand up and get these kids the help that they deserve. Oh, yeah, right, you say it's not your problem.
