The Woodhouse family has been chosen for the national television show, Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

The new home has been built near Marksheffel Road and Fontaine Boulevard just east of Widefield.

The Woodhouse family was selected because 10-year old Kayla has a rare nerve disorder called, Hereditary Sensory Autonomic Neuropathy. She can't sweat or feel pain, meaning her body temperature has to be regulated at all times.

"This is going mean the world to the entire family," said volunteer Erica Duval.

"The daily grind of things is totally different for us that it is for anyone else," said Kim Woodhouse.

Her family recently had to sell their home because they couldn't afford to pay the mortgage on top of all of Kayla's medical bills.

"The condition the daughter has, she has special needs and we were delighted that we were able to help build her a home and make her life easier," said Scott Baughman with Premier Homes.

So premier homes is building them a new one. With the help of volunteers and donated materials.

Volunteers have turned out in the hundreds. Some know Kayla.

"It's a chance to to help a family that has taught me so much over the last few years that I've known them," said Duval.

Others just want to help.

"This is something I've always wanted to do," said Kimberlee Sandry.

The Woodhouse family saw their home for the first time Sunday.
