The owner of a coastal North Carolina restaurant is fed up with screaming children who bother other diners.

So Brenda Armes has posted signs at Olde Salty restaurant in Carolina Beach that read "screaming children will not be tolerated." She told WECT-TV in Wilmington that the signs have worked by attracting more customers than they turn away.

Customer Gary Gibson agrees, saying he likes the signs because a meal isn't enjoyable when kids are screaming.

But a mother of two, Ashley Heflin, says parents can't help it if their children scream.

If a child is screaming, Armes says a restaurant employee will ask the parent to take them outside. They won't be asked to leave the restaurant for good.

Im a mom as well. I completely agree with Jennifer, Amber, and A Parent. When my kids do act up I either take them to the bathroom or outside until they get it out of their system. If they dont then we leave. If they are talking loudly, laughing to loudly for snobby people's liking, or doing their happy screams if they are little, then I tell them to use their indoor voices. Kids at any age will throw tantrums. The younger they are the louder it is. We are teaching our kids how to act in public places. If you do not have kids then you have no right or experience to comment on our parenting skills. How do you expect them to learn how to behave if they are not allowed to be in public places? Think before you speak. You all acted up in public places also when you were younger. Does that make your parents bad parents? A good parent takes every opportunity to enjoy their kids because they grow way too fast. We teach them right from wrong. Get off your high horses.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE! Your kids are SMARTER than you! If they're old enough to understand, they have to be taught how to behave.

I am well aware that children will throw tantrums at random. However, a responsible parent handles it the same way my sister did when her daughter was a toddler... ask the child to calm down or use her 'indoor' voice (depending if it is a tantrum or happy screaming), and if the child failed to do so my sister would take her outside while her husband paid the bill and got the meal put in to-go boxes. There is absolutely no reason to ruin other people's evenings with your child's misbehavior.
