Social Service Worker Sentenced

Updated: Tue 1:59 PM, Sep 10, 2002

Twenty-seven-year-old Geoff Rantz heard his sentence yesterday.
The El Paso County worker was convicted in June of six counts of
sexual assault on a child, as well as theft, contributing to the
delinquency of a minor, criminal impersonation and practicing
therapy without a license.
Rantz's conviction on sex crimes gives the state parole board
the discretion to incarcerate him for life if it thinks he
continues to be dangerous.
Rantz says the mother of one of the boys conspired with
prosecutors and an investigator in the district attorney's office
to wrongly convict him.
Rantz says he has never harmed a child in his life. Neither of
the boys Rantz was convicted of assaulting was on his caseload.
