If you use a debit card at the gas pump, you may want to think twice the next you fill up. Police say thieves are targeting gas pumps along the front range and stealing personal information.

Nancy Lusk believes her debit card was compromised when her husband filled up her gas tank last Friday at the Valero gas station on Research Parkway in Colorado Springs. She says when she went online to check her bank account statement, she found crooks had drained her account of $2700.

"There were charges from North Carolina and I said this can't be because I haven't been to North Carolina," said Lusk.

Police say an organized group is behind this criminal activity. They haven't been able to track them down yet, but now the secret service is involved in the ongoing investigation.

Police say there are a few things you can do to try and protect your information. They recommend checking your bank statements on a daily basis and reporting any suspicious activity. Also, using a credit card instead of a debit card at the gas pump. That way the crooks don't have direct access to your bank account.

Jerks...we work our butts off to make ends meet and they want to steal our money. I'll continue to get gas on base or go on a cash only basis at the pump!

My debit card information was recently stolen. I believe this happened at the Valero (Diamond Shamrock) at Circle drive and St. Vrain, near Platte Ave. I agreed to assist authorities in the investigation, but it seem odd to me that no one from Wells Fargo or any law enforcement agency has contacted me. All I got was an email saying my investigation had been completed. Wells Fargo returned the money to my account I hope they catch these crooks.

These crooks really need to be locked up & throw away the key...Its sad the way people have to hurt others for their own personal gain because of dope or because they arent working...try shoveling *&!# to make some money instead of stealing from those of us that work hard for our money!
