Pueblo Police confirm that a fatal accident that occurred on E. 4th St. near N. Hudson Ave. around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Investigators say the man crashed his scooter into the back of a 1995 Honda Passport being driven by a 73-year old man.

The SUV was stopped for traffic mid block on 4th street. Just as it began to move forward, it was hit from behind by a scooter driven by a 52-year old man.

The scooter driver had been unable to stop in time and the scooter slid on its side for about 30 feet before it hit the Honda.

Police say the scooter rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The scooter rider was taken to Parkview Hospital by ambulance and died a short time later.

The driver of the Honda Passport was not injured.

Alcohol and speed do not seem to be a factor in this accident.

No one answered the 911 call. The rescue was too late. This kind of support in a small town like Pueblo is UNEXCEPTABLE.
