The Air Force has identified the pilot as 26-year-old Captain
Benton Zettel of Englewood, Colorado.
He was assigned to the 522nd Fighter Squadron at Cannon. He's
been in the military since 1998 and at Cannon since October 2000.
Cannon officials say the airplane crashed last night near Fort
Sumner -- about 50 miles west of the base.
The airplane was on a training mission.
Air Force officials are still investigating the cause of the
crash.
