"Let Us Vote COS" is trying to re-ignite support for their ballot question, which allows voters to decide if medical marijuana dispensaries should be allowed within Colorado Springs city limits.

The group was originally aiming to get their question on the November 2010 ballot, but they weren't able to get enough signatures. Councilmember Daryl Glenn eventually proposed the idea, but that was rejected by a majority of city leaders, killing the measure for 2010.

Now "Let Us Vote COS" is taking their mission onto the internet, trying to recruit donations and volunteers to help collect another 15,000 signatures needed by December 15 to be considered for the April election.

HB 1284, which was signed by Governor Bill Ritter in 2010, puts regulations into place to keep tabs on the booming medical marijuana industry and dispensaries that distribute the drug to patients statewide. In the law, counties are given the ability to decide whether or not to ban dispensaries and grow operations.

Those who oppose any sort of ban on dispensaries say they will challenge regulations that they say infringe on their constitutional rights.

As far as unincorporated El Paso County, voters will decide in November 2010 whether or not dispensaries are allowed to operate. A question on the ballot strictly stipulates the rules outside Colorado Springs city limits.

If you'd like to see both sides of the debate, we've included a few links below this story. They link to the group pushing for a ban, and a major proponent of sensible medical marijuana laws.

No one should be able to vote to take away any medical marijuanna unless you are sick with a chronic or termainal disease and you know what this feels like. I am young, i have Multiple Sclerosis, two failed back surgeries from a car accident. I have been on prescription drugs now for 8ys. They have recently put me on some serious pain killer that can stop me from breathing because my body has grown immune to morphine for taking it for so many years. Talk about being constipated.. I want nothing more to take something to take away my pain naturally. Just like we have reciptors in our brains that connect to eachother for every function, did you know their is even receptors in our brains for marijuanna ? Im tired of all the pills, no pill for happiness, muscle spasms etc. I just want to take one thing a day. No more seperate pills for happiness, muscle spasms, MJ takes care all that in one. So please .... dont take your health for granted.

Mannn... there is alot of hate on weed. Why? Alcohol does so many worse things... I love the thought of pot being used for medicinal purposes. I have Chron's- and I have a toddler son. I don't use my medicine until my son is in bed, but until I sit and take a few puffs, I cannot eat or even stand to look at food. So from 6 am til about 9 at night, I can't eat. To look at me, you'd think I'm anorexic. Anyone who looks at me like I'm a 4/20 pusher... you're not helping my condition or my life. Shut yer mouth if you don't even know what you're talking about. Maybe try it next time you find it in your kids sock drawer and you get a stomach ache. It's instant relief. Prescription drugs kill. Bayer created Meth. You can't OD on pot. Who needs more of an argument than that? You can run your own bitter, unhappy pot free lives, but quit judging those who truly need it. I will NOT take prescription pills. Sorry.

Marijuana, for any use, is illegal under federal law. Why doesn't the Federal government raid or stop the states that approved medical marijuana? "The FDA has not approved smoking marijuana for medicinal purposes, but has approved the active ingredient-THC-in the form of scientifically regulated Marinol." Sativex, which comes from real cannabis is undergoing clinical trials. Medical marijuana programs are like total medical ANARCHY. Anyone can get a medical marijuana card. This anarchy means that the people can choose to make COCAINE to be a medical substance to snort if they voted for this. Do the Feds enforce their laws at all or they choose the laws to enforce? The Feds are powerless civil servants just waiting to collect their retirement from the taxpayers.
