More than 50 Air Force Academy cadets will be spending this Labor Day weekend volunteering.

They'll be hitting the road for the American Discovery Trail marathon on Monday, hoping to break a record, and help raise money for Kenny Frith, a 28-year-old Colorado Springs resident with Cerebral Palsy.

Last year, with the help of his dad, sister and cousin, Kenny crossed the finish line of the American Discovery Trail Marathon in over four hours. He earned a medal and helped spark an idea for this year.

"Last year was pretty long for him," said Gary Frith, Kenny's dad and an Air Force Academy graduate. "This year it's going to go a bit faster."

Fifty-three cadets from Gary Frith's old squadron, Mach One, have volunteered to push Kenny during Monday's race. Each of the cadets will sprint a half mile, trying to get Kenny across the finish line in two hours, 30 minutes, which would beat the current record of two hours, 32 minutes. They also hope the run will raise $26,000 for "26 for the Kids." All proceeds would go to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Colorado Springs.

If you'd like to cheer Kenny on, the marathon starts in Palmer Lake at 6:30 Monday morning, and ends up at America the Beautiful park in Colorado Springs.
