A father and daughter face charges for allegedly trying to get through Denver International Airport security with a loaded .22-caliber handgun.

Forty-four-year-old James Mueller faces a charge of illegally providing a gun to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His daughter, a juvenile, faces a charge of a minor illegally possessing a handgun.

Their hometown wasn't immediately available.

Denver prosecutors say Mueller told investigators that he gave the gun to his daughter for protection and that she had forgotten it in her purse. Transportation Security Administration screeners found the handgun on Monday.

And there are some people who are so comfortable posessing a firearm that they actually can forget they are carrying it. This is not understandable to those who believe that every evil gun will end up an accessory to a crime or a death. Some of these people I assume would also believe airliners can be hijacked using box cutters.

@ Bob. It is illegal to own/carry a handgun under the age of 21. not BB gun or hunting rifle ect. The law has been that way for a long time. I believe it is Federal law.
