Colorado Springs Police arrested a Peterson Air Force Base security policeman Early Friday morning outside a bar on Academy Blvd.

Police say it happened around 2 a.m. Friday morning outside the Copperhead Road Nightclub when an argument broke out in the parking lot.

Officers tell us that one of the men, 22-year-old Tyler Stringer, got a .45 caliber handgun from his car. Stringer is a policeman at Peterson. Stringer told police the gun went off accidentally.

Police say one bullet went into the pavement. After the shot, Stringer was held by the club's security until officers arrived.

Police say Stringer was found to be under the influence of alcohol while handling a gun which violates state statutes.

He was made to post bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on two misdemeanor charges of Prohibited Use of Weapons and Reckless Endangerment.

Nobody was hurt.
