Between the two of them, McDivitt Law Firm and Designated Driver of Colorado Springs gave as many as 11,000 rides to drunk drivers last year, all for free.

Wednesday, members of both organizations received recognition for their efforts keeping drunk drivers off the streets.

The Pikes Peak DUI Task Force put on the event Wednesday at Soda Springs Park in Manitou Springs. They wanted to express their gratitude to citizens who volunteer their time and resources to educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence.

"Not only do I feel passionately about the service we're providing, but I care deeply for all the people who help us provide the service,” said Nonie Rispin with Designated Driver of Colorado Springs.

“We represent a lot of people who are victims of accidents involving drunk drivers,” said Mike McDivitt with McDivitt Law Firm. “We do everything we can to get drunk drivers off the streets.”

Several law enforcement officers from local agencies as well as a deputy district attorney were also recognized during Wednesday’s awards ceremony.

Both of these services are an incredible service to the community. McDivitt Law Firm gives free rides four holidays a year. Designated Driver is out five nights a week. Between the two of them I am sure they are making a huge difference in the numbers of DUI's and alcohol related issues in this area.

Yes, this is an excellent service! I'm sure lives have been saved, and accidents prevented by McDivitt's law firm.
