An abortion question on Colorado ballots this fall is kicking advocates on both sides into campaign mode.

A group of abortion-rights supporters including Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains rallied at the state Capitol on Tuesday. About 100 people there urged voters to defeat a so-called "personhood" amendment that would give citizenship rights to fetuses.

Supporters of the amendment say approval of the measure would likely make abortion illegal.

A similar amendment was soundly defeated by Colorado voters two years ago. But abortion opponents are trying again to have the question decided by voters.

Supporters of the "personhood" amendment are planning to campaign at churches on the Sundays before the election.

I am also Pro-Choice. I believe that abortion should NOT be used as a form of birth control though. Women have been told what they can and cannot say, wear, or do with their own body. Missy- awesome post and thank you for speaking up. There are so many factors in why females do make that hard decision to get an abortion. BUT, that is their right to choose. I would rather that child be put up for adoption instead, but thats not how it always pans out. Would you rather that fetus be aborted early on, or given a life of resentment, hatred, and even abuse? Rape and incest are huge factors as to why women choose this path. Glass House people.

You don't add murder to incest or rape, and drug addicted babies can be treated. 'Fetus' is Latin for baby, but it sounds so generic to the pro-abort peeps, so that's why they prefer to use the term. To those who advocate abortion, I ask: 'Have you ever had an abortion?' 'Have you ever talked to a woman who has had one?' I counseled for 8 years, and it is something that a woman never gets over, totally, once she realizes, after it is too late, what she has done to her baby. There are 'Rachael's Vineyards' for women to get professional help & counseling, and many do get healed through such. But most who have had an abortion become very, very pro-life afterwards.

@Missy: I applaud your honesty and my post was generalizing most conservatives (which I doubt anyone would deny). It sounds to me like perhaps you have a more libertarian viewpoint as I do. I'm very conservative regarding monetary policy, freedoms, and government intervention, but more liberal on social issues (which I would actually argue as being more conservative since government is not involved, but most apparently do not agree).
