A Southern Colorado family gets an Extreme Makeover

The Woodhouse family has been chosen for the national television show, Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

The new home is being built near Marksheffel Road and Fontaine Boulevard just east of Widefield.

They have less than a week.

"How do we build a home in 96 hours," asked Scott Baughman with Premier Homes.

To build a brand new house from start to finish for a special young girl.

"This is going mean the world to the entire family," said volunteer Erica Duval.

10-year old Kayla has a rare nerve disorder called, Hereditary Sensory Autonomic Neuropathy. She can't sweat or feel pain, meaning her body temperature has to be regulated at all times.

"The daily grind of things is totally different for us that it is for anyone else," said Kim Woodhouse.

Her family recently had to sell their home because they couldn't afford to pay the mortgage on top of all of Kayla's medical bills.

"The condition the daughter has, she has special needs and we were delighted that we were able to help build her a home and make her life easier," said Baughman.

So premier homes is building them a new one. With the help of volunteers and donated materials.

Volunteers have turned out in the hundreds. Some know Kayla.

"It's a chance to to help a family that has taught me so much over the last few years that I've known them," said Duval.

Others just want to help.

"This is something I've always wanted to do," said Kimberlee Sandry.

They will work together everyday this week through the night to build the Woodhouse family a new place to call home.

Workers expect to have the house built, decorated and furnished by Sunday. That's when Kayla and her family will get to see their new home for the first time.
