Allard vs. Strickland

(Denver-AP) -- Senator Wayne Allard and Democratic challenger Tom Strickland are pledging to be more positive as their campaigns press on toward November.

The two met for their second debate in as many days on Sunday. The debate was taped, and will be broadcast on public television later this month and early next month.

Allard and Strickland both spent time Sunday trying to deflect blame for their often bitter battle. Allard challenged Strickland to run a completely positive ad. Strickland countered by saying his campaign has been nothing but positive.

The race is the focus of not only great statewide interest, but also intense national attention. The outcome could prove pivotal to control of the U-S Senate, where Democrats currently hold a one-vote advantage.
