A man is under arrest after a 7-month-old baby was taken to the hospital in a possible child abuse case.
Police were called to Memorial Hospital Thursday, where doctors are treating a severely emaciated 7-month-old baby boy.
Police arrested 22-year-old Trevor Williams. He's facing a felony child abuse charge.
In an arrest affidavit, it says Williams says he was feeding the baby formula and cereal. But when police searched his home, they found no signs of either, and when they checked receipts of recent grocery store transactions, it appeared Williams wasn't buying any, either.
A doctor who evaluated the child said the baby lost 29% of its body weight during a nearly three week span, and faced organ problems and a substantial risk of death.
The arrest affidavit says the father was caring for the children because the mother was locked up in jail after she suspected infidelity and damaged the father's (her husband's) car.
The mother was locked up for a total of 18 days, after which she came home and immediately took the infant to a hospital for its weight loss.
Williams was charged with one felony count of child abuse, and is being held on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to be back in court later this month.

To "Friend"- how could it NOT be true? The defenseless infant was in HIS care the entire time? Even if this sperm-donor (because he's NOT a father, he's NOT a Daddy) was dropping his baby off to daycare every day, he would still notice the dramatic weightloss that this child had gone through. He would still have to turn a deaf ear to his cries all evening and night. This is sadistic. Your "friend" is an evil person. Take your blinders off- people are way different around their families than they are around their friends/co-workers. I'm sure you're shocked and a bit hurt that this person you know could be so evil and low as to nearly starve his own child to death, but the evidence is there.
dont sound like him known him for a while hope they find out if its true or not
It doesnt sound like it was a suitable home for a child and so why wasnt child services called in after the mother was arrested to evaluate the home to make sure the so called father was fit to take care of the child. Normally yes a father should be able to step up and take responsibility but when there is a charge of domestic violence within that home it should have set off a red flag. Also this individual who is still in the Army and is in the process of being kicked out for being lets say not a model soilder was given time off to take care of a baby when the Army knew he couldnt take care of himself! Another red flag! I know laws and regulations do not go hand in hand sometimes with common sense but there were a lot of indicators here that if some one would have paid attention this terrible incident may have been prevented. Some say both are terrible parents, the mother went to jail for beating up the car of her cheating husband and had the sense to take the child to a ER. Is she???
