Cash Crunch

Several of Colorado's school districts are tugging at the state's purse strings for more than one billion dollars in funding.

Twenty-two school districts are asking for the cash to fight overcrowding and renovation needs.

More than 150 thousand new students have entered the state's public schools in the past decade.

Among the districts are Colorado Springs who is asking for more than $131 million. Lewis-Palmer wants more than $62 million. And, the largest district, Jefferson County, is asking for more nearly $324 million.
