31 Southern Colorado students received scholarships during a ceremony in the Springs this evening.

31 Southern Colorado students received scholarships during a ceremony in the Springs this evening.

The scholarships total more than $40,000.

They were awarded by The American G.I. Forum, Esperanza Education Foundation, El Cinco De Mayo, Inc., and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The El Pomar Foundation hosted the event at the Penrose House.

Each of the scholarship winners had to show academic achievement, community involvement and financial need.

The recipients are from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Woodland Park, Swink, Pagosa Springs, Monte Vista, and Manitou Springs.
