A man driving in the wrong direction on a rural highway was killed after colliding with a semi-truck late Saturday night.
According to Colorado State patrol, the truck driver attempted to avoid the oncoming Nissan, but was unable to stop the collision. The Nissan ran into the right front of the semi, causing both vehicles to go off the side of the road. The semi ended up in a barrow ditch, and the 23-year-old driver sustained only minor injuries.
The Nissan erupted into flames after the crash. The 65-year-old driver, identified as Michael Manley of Eads, Colo. died at the scene.
Troopers do not suspect drugs or alcohol in the crash.
The accident occurred at 11:24 p.m. on Highway 40 in Cheyenne County, about 33 miles east of Hugo.
