The suspect in a fatal shooting in Glenwood Springs has turned himself in.

Fredy Cabrera, 39, is accused of killing a man and injuring a woman in a shooting at the Riverside Cottages Wednesday night. His relationship to the victims has not been released.

Deputies were called to the scene at 11 p.m. after people reporting hearing shots fired.

“I head a ‘pop-pop’ sound and didn’t think too much of it,” neighbor Tim Cooper told sister station KCNC. “Reminded me of fireworks, firecrackers or gunshots. I know what gunshots sound like.”

Once they arrived on scene, deputies found the two victims. The man later died at the hospital, while the woman remains in unknown condition at a Denver hospital. Neither has been identified.

KCNC says SWAT scoured the area Thursday searching for Cabrera, who was identified as the suspect early on in the investigation. Cabrera turned himself in Thursday afternoon.
