Health officials say the swine flu outbreak in Colorado last fall may have pushed the seasonal flu aside, but it's too early to declare victory.

Joni Reynolds, director of the Colorado Immunization Program, says swine flu is still the prevalent strain in the state, and that may be keeping other varieties at bay.

Reynolds says this is the time of year the seasonal flu usually increases, but that hasn't happened yet in Colorado or elsewhere.

She says it's impossible to predict whether or when seasonal flu will hit.

The state health department said Wednesday only one new hospitalization for the flu was reported last week, and no new deaths.

Flu cases peaked in Colorado during the week of Oct. 11, when nearly 360 new hospitalizations were reported.
