The World Health Organization has rejected as "irresponsible" allegations that swine flu is a fake pandemic.

WHO also dismissed claims it colluded with drug companies to bring economic benefit to the industry by playing up the danger of the new H1N1 influenza strain.

WHO officials will meet with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Tuesday after the watchdog body questioned whether the U.N.'s health agency acted under undue influence.

Spokesman Gregory Hartl says WHO has always been "very measured and sober" in describing the outbreak as causing overwhelmingly mild disease.

Hartl said Monday that from a scientific point of view "this is plainly a pandemic and for people to not describe it as a pandemic is irresponsible."

I have a daughter in public high school, my wife works with the pubilc and I work in a place with 30 other people, 1 of which got the 'dangerous and deadly' disease. We didn't get the vaccine, my diseased coworker didn't get the vaccine (he went to the doctor too late), and we're all still quite alive and not dead or hospitalized. My coworker was back to work in a week, said he had some mild symptoms. We didn't fall for the governmental scare tactics or shock and awe, didn't get unnecessary chemicals thrown into our bodies and likely have built natural antibodies to the new strain. GO WHO!! Way to overreact and grease the palms of the pharmas! The swine flu, by numbers, has been far less deadly and impactive than the regular seasonal flu. Bravo the GOV and the WHO has saved us all!
