The City of Fountain has been awarded $30,000 to assist homeowners with exterior projects under the "Clean and Green Program." The money was given to them as a Community Development Block Grant from El Paso County.
According to the city, examples of "Clean and Green Projects" include but are not limited to: exterior painting, porch repair, wheelchair ramps, and window replacement, landscaping projects such as installation of sod, mulch and sod for flower beds, and planting of trees.
Homeowners must be low-to-moderate-income earners, as defined by the 2010 Colorado HUD. For example, a family of four must have a gross income of $56,500 or less. Also, the applicant must occupy the home.
If a homeowner qualifies, they could get up to $1,000 for their green project. Reimbursement will be made to the homeowner upon completion of the project and submission of receipts.
A designated area of the City had to be stipulated in the grant. We've attached a map, which you can see by clicking on the picture-document attachment at the top of this story. The area encompasses an area south of Comanche Village Drive.
Applications may be picked up at City Hall, 116 S. Main Street, Fountain, CO 80817 (administration office on 2nd floor) or downloaded from the City's web site. You can get there by clicking on the link provided under this story.
The program ends July 31, 2011.
