October 23rd will be remembered as the night of the blowout shutout.
Manitou Springs thrilled the home crowd with a 47-0 win over Ellicott. Logan Asbury tossed a touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown to get the Mustangs started with two early in the first quarter.
Rye has clinched another division crown. The T-Bolts shutout Rocky Ford 39-0 to win the Sante Fe League title.
Pueblo Central continues to roll by beating cross-town rival Pueblo East 29-0. The Wildcats will likely hold onto the #1 spot in the 3A Wild Card points.
Pueblo County also rolled to a shutout win over Woodland Park 44-0. Both County and Central are 6-0 in league play which could set up a winner-take-all game on Nov. 6th when the two meet head-to-head.
Pueblo West rolled to a 49-0 win over Coronado at Garry Berry Stadium. The Cyclones remain in the hunt for a wild card berth in class 4A.
Pueblo South picked up a road win at Cheyenne Mountain, 28-21.
Lewis-Palmer increased its chances of making the 4A playoffs with a 62-16 win over Air Academy at Don Breese Stadium. The win snaps a two-game losing streak for L-P.
There is a three-way tie for first place in the 8-Man Southern League. Fowler failed to win the division outright tonight after losing to Hoehne 28-22. Swink hammered Hanover 75-8. These two outcomes creates a three-way tie with Fowler, Swink and Hoehne for first place. Fowler will now play on Monday against Manzanola (a make-up game that was postponed earlier in the season). A Grizzly win would clinch the title for Fowler via tie-breakers.
