Updated: 03/19/2013 - A Colorado Springs boy died after hitting his head on the ground during a skateboarding accident Saturday. Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time. The family of 12-year-old Charlie Jones has set up a memorial fund in his honor. Called "Skate Safe For Charlie," people can go to any Wells Fargo in the Springs and donate. There will also be a candlelight vigil Thursday at the scene of the accident. The accident happened on Howard Avenue near Palmer Park Boulevard and North Circle.

The department?s goal is to educate children who statistically are more likely to engage in the unsupervised, experimental, mischievous or illegal use of fire. Nationally, 85% of all children killed in fires die as a result of a fire they have started.

Posted: 03/14/2013 - Colorado Springs Utilities is proposing strict watering restrictions. If approved, customers will only be able to water our lawns, just two days a week. This isn’t in effect yet, but we could see the restrictions in a few weeks. Before we have to start restricting our water use, the CSU Water Board and City Council have to approve it. If they do, the new rules will start April 1st. CSU will recommend the proposal at their March 20 meeting. Then it will go to the City Council March 26. They will answer questions about pending state gun laws and what they mean for people in El Paso County. The meeting is from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday night. It will be in the Commissioners Hearing Room at Centennial Hall at 200 South Cascade Avenue in Colorado Springs. Free parking is available in the El Paso County parking garage on Sawatch Avenue.
