VETERAN'S DAY EVENTS AT UCCS

Posted: 11/12/2012 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs faculty, staff and students will commemorate Veteran's Day Nov. 12 by participating in the National Roll Call project that recognizes members of the U.S. armed services killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Beginning at 7 a.m. Nov. 12 in Berger Hall, the names of about 5,000 service members who died as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom since will be read aloud. Volunteers will read names for five to 15 minutes until all names are read. "UCCS will join with campuses across the nation to send the message to the troops currently serving that we have not forgotten their sacrifices or those who have fallen," Phillip Morris, director, Office of Military and Student Affairs, said. At noon, all participating campuses will observe a simultaneous nationwide minute of silence. The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs will also host an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12 in Berger Hall to share the services offered to active duty military members, veterans, and families.

If you need a break and someone to watch for kids so you can get some rest, you can call to register your child beforehand so you can take a few hours for yourself. Nestle "NesQuik" Recall

Posted: 11/09/2012 - Nestle is recalling more than 200,000 canisters of "NesQuik" because of possible salmonella contamination. Nestle said the problem occurred on batches of the the mix produced last month. The bottom of the canisters say they are best to use by October 20-14. Two of the smaller containers have a promotion for the current Disney movie "Wreck-It Ralph" on the side. Nestle said the problem was caused by ingredient supplier Omya that it has issued a recall of certain lots of its ingredient. Nestle said that there have been no reports of illness due to anyone who consumed the product. Nestle said consumers who have the product can return to the place of purchase for a full refund.
