Firefighter Walks 25 Miles- Needs Donations

Posted: 02/16/2013 - If you were driving on Highway 24 near Divide Saturday, you may have seen a firefighter dressed in full gear, walking along the street. Nathan Quist started out from his house and Divide Saturday morning and walked 25 miles to raise money for the Victor Volunteer Fire Department. It took him nearly seven hours to get it done. He suited up so raise awareness and even drum up some support for new gear that should be replaced within 10 years. "With me doing this, it helps open up everybody's eyes and everybody now can see that they can help out and that we do struggle in this. We all do into these houses for free, and whatever support we can get is wonderful," Quist said. Quist told us it was a great accomplishment and that he did it for all his brothers and sisters of volunteer fire departments everywhere. If donations go well, he may consider doing it again next year. “The circumstances that I faced walking here, sweating, the blisters on the feet, it's nothing we don't face every day when we have to fight a fire. So if I could do this all again next year, I will,” Quist said. If you’d like to help Quist in his quest, go to the website below and listed here, to make a donation. http://www.gofundme.com/20ldt8 Donations will be for the Victor Volunteer Fire Department. Quist said his guys need better gear especially with the bad fire seasons we have had. They have also had more structure fires this winter compared to years past.

Chrysler Recall Alert

Updated: 02/15/2013 - Chrysler is recalling 278,000 pickup trucks and SUVs to fix a problem that can cause the rear axles to lock up unexpectedly. The recall covers many Ram 1500 pickups from the 2009 through 2012 model years, as well as Dodge Dakota pickups from 2009 through 2011. Also included are Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUVs from 2009. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says a nut in the rear axle can come loose due to a missing adhesive patch. If that happens the axle can lock and cause drivers to lose control. Chrysler will install a retainer to keep the nut in place starting next month. It's the second recall for the same problem. Last October the company recalled about 44,000 Rams and Dakotas.
