Posted: 06/09/2014 - The Catholic Heart Work Camp is collaborating with Black Forest Together for the purpose of hosting volunteers to assist the community in its recovery from last June's fire. Assistance will be for both recovery and mitigation projects and include the following tasks: gathering and stacking of slash; removal of ladder fuels by pruning low-hanging branches, saplings and brush; raking debris and pine needles; planting grass seed and seedlings; erosion control; mending fences; other low-intensity chores. Our projects do not include tree felling. Projects will be conducted from Monday, 30 June through Friday, 3 July. Posted: 06/03/2014 - The Postal Inspection Service has received complaints related to fraudulent emails and phone calls. The email, which claims to be from the US Postal Service, includes a message about an attempted or intercepted package delivery. The customer is told to click the link or open an attachment then print the label. When opened, a malicious virus is installed on the computer. If a customer receives an email similar to the one described above, USPS says do not click on the link or open the attachment. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fort Carson at the Special Events Center. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. All blood types are encouraged to donate.
Posted: 05/29/2014 - A company is now offering flyers insurance for problems that most airlines will not compensate for. The new program is called Air Care, and it's through the Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. For $25 a flight, Aircare will pay you $500 if your checked luggage is delayed more than 12 hours. They'll also pay you $500 if a flight delay causes you to miss a connecting flight. Read more in the attached link.
