"Kearstin McGinnis, I need Kearstin. Where is she? You've been selected to be on Wheel of Fortune!"
Kearstin McGinnis, the recruiting manager for the Broadmoor, got the surprise of her life. This avid follower of The Wheel of Fortune had her dream come true. She sailed past thousands of others and was selected to compete on her favorite television game show.
Kearstin says, "I've been wanting to do this since I was three...pretended I was Vanna. I don't look like Vanna at all!"
Kearstin's co-workers at the 5-star resort helped us pull off the surprise... holding a quickly assembled staff meeting where they eagerly shared her special moment.
Dana Barton says, "She's really excited to give Vanna White a hug, spin the wheel, and touch Pat Sajak!"
Kearstin also was congratulated by her husband, Staff Sergeant Steve McGinnis who's in Baghdad, Iraq. Now her biggest concern... her little girl.
Kearstin shouts, "Anybody want to babysit a five year old?"
To be chosen, Kearstin first had to stand out among thousands who tried out for the game show in October in Cripple Creek.
Then 140 were called to the Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort, with judges selecting just ten from southern Colorado.
Producer Gary O'Brien says he's looking for special qualities in a contestant that come out in a live show.
He says, "We're looking for folks who can be fun, they have a good, natural vibe, presence, be good puzzle solvers, and they can play under pressure."
Those chosen will be notified in the coming weeks. Good luck to them and Kearstin. We'll all be watching! Kearstin's show will be taped next Thursday in Culver City, California. It will air three months from now in February.
