Almost a week after Issue 300 passed on Election Day, the Colorado Springs City Council has asked the city manager to draw up a plan to begin phasing out the Stormwater Enterprise fee.
In the City Council meeting Monday afternoon, council members agreed that voters had spoken and made their voices loud and clear- no more enterprise fees.
Anti-tax crusader Douglas Bruce said he would sue after 300 passed if the city did not get rid of the Stormwater Enterprise Fee.
On the November ballot, Issue 300 said it would phase out city enterprise fees over the next eight years, but there was some debate over whether this would affect the city's Stormwater Fees. Bruce said the city was trying to slip the Stormwater Enterprise Fee through a loop hole because the ballot did not specify "stormwater" in the term "enterprise fees." The city said that was not true and said voters had spoken and they would listen.
