The ski town of Breckenridge has voted overwhelmingly to decriminalize marijuana possession.
Early returns Tuesday night showed the proposal winning with 72 percent of the vote. Breckenridge is poised to clear adults over 21 to have up to 1 ounce of marijuana.
The measure is largely symbolic, though. Pot possession remains a state crime for people without medical clearance.
Elsewhere in Colorado, Denver voters appeared headed toward rejecting a measure that would have forced police to seize cars from people caught driving without a license. Dozens more municipal questions were on ballots.

Tim I have to correct you on one point. You said "All that revenue now is going DIRECTLY into the hands of dangerous criminals and maybe even terrorists". This is totally incorrect. The majority of that money is going into the pockets of enterprising Americans. The mom & pop grows across this country have done more to curtail the import of Mexican pot than all the combined efforts of LEO on both sides of the border. This fact recently made National headlines. Not only are we hitting the carrtels where it hurts, we are also helping the U.S. economy. Canna cash now stays at home where it belongs. Its high time there was an initiative at the National level to end prohibition. Cannabis needs to be removed from Schedule 2 and legalized for adult and medical use.
How can it be considered leagal just because it has been voted on and passed in Breckenridge? I have heard this vote is only symbolic since it is still agtainst Colorado state law????
Firstly, all of the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of people currently incarcerated in the US for marijuana associated offenses, their families and friends aside - Second: The VAST and lucrative potentials within an entire growth, production, and distrubution system - The hundreds of thousands of jobs CREATED - the support provided to countless associated markets and areas of the economy (obviously agriculture-supporting industries and construction would see immediately booms, but also shipping-CLOTHING-Hemp(the non-smokable cousin of marijuana)and all it's associated industries. thirdly - ALL that is being TAXED and helping eliminate the nation's debt - with our great nation's current leading cash crop(yes right now - even though it's illegal) All that revenue now is going DIRECTLY into the hands of dangerous criminals and maybe even terrorists as opposed to taxed, regulated, members of the business community. Fourth - the BILLIONS the US gvrnmt spends annually on the *failed*war on "drugs"
