An El Paso County resident thinks a sympathy card sent by the El Paso County Democratic Party was an attempt to get her vote.

''On behalf of the Democratic Party of El Paso County,” Pam Ingalls read Tuesday, “please accept our condolences on the loss of your mother."

In her El Paso County home, Ingalls can barely get through the sympathetic words written on a sympathy card she recently received.

It’s one of many that came following the recent death of her mother, 88 year old Susan Rothrock.

The signature of El Paso County Democrat Chair John Morris initially caught her attention.

"My first reaction when I first read it was a little bit of confusion," she said.

Her mother never worked for the local Democratic office. She also suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and hadn't voted since 1996.

After further thought, the card seemed clear to Pam.

"[It was sent] as a way to ingratiate themselves with voters and worst case scenario to court my vote," she said.

The registered Republican crafted a response in a note of her own. In a letter to Morris, Ingalls recognizes Colorado is a critical state in the upcoming election. She also points out a few other things about her situation including that she never received a similar card when her father died 10 years ago.

"I feel this was done on a political level, and because of that, I think it was very intrusive."

The card was forwarded to Pam through the funeral home handling her mother's services. She assumes that information was found in an obituary placed in the local newspaper.

She has a simple request for the senders.

"They have no idea how they could be hurting a family and they need to know its wrong and they need to stop," Ingalls said.

Pam says she'd be just as angry if she'd received a card like this from the local Republican office.

Attempts to contact Democrat Chair John Morris were not returned by the time of posting.

Steve, do you even read my other posts? or did you just read this one and ASSUME this accusation? Doug, you are the kind of person McCain hopes for. You accuse me of not using my brain, when you probably get all your info from Fixed News and Druggie Limbaugh. Change the channel, open your eyes, read what people are saying, and you will see your alleged Utopia really isnt. We are in a pit, and McCain wants us to stay there. Thats why I choose Obama! And dont accuse all Democrats of being sleazy, because I can say all Reps are greedy ignorant racist sheep.
