Members of the El Paso County Republican Headquarters react to the Democratic National Convention. Members say the DNC was more about style than substance.

Nathan Fisk is the Executive Director of the El Paso County Republican Headquarters and he says the convention wasn't about Sen. Barack Obama enough. He says too much attention was paid to people like Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy.

Fisk also said the DNC was very glitzy and glamorous with not much meat, but despite that Fisk says Sen. John McCain and Obama are still in a dead heat in Colorado.

Pauline Inghram is a Colorado Springs Republican. "I am going to vote for McCain," said Inghram. She said she paid attention to the DNC and to her surprise, "I think they did a fantastic job."

But Fisk believes the DNC was full of contrast. "In Hillary Clinton's own words, the man is not ready to lead," said Fisk.

Those are words many say are hard to take back. McCain is even using it to his advantage in campaign ads. "Senator McCain would bring a lifetime of experience, I would bring a lifetime of experience and Obama would bring a speech he made in 2002," said Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Fisk also says Obama's rock-star quality hinders people from seeing who he really is making the DNC perhaps less than serious.

"You sort of see this ongoing clash where they're not sure what their message is day to day," said Fisk.

Inghram who was satisfied with how the DNC played out says her team, the Republicans, are going to need to one-up the Democrats. "They better! Yes, they should, but they are going to have to be creative. I think the Democrats have put quite a bit of work into this one," said Inghram.

The Republican National Convention kicks off on September 1ST in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota.

There is no surplus and there hasn't been a surplus since before WWII. We will never be out of debt as a country. Take an economics class. Read the news, there is a hurricane and the RNC and the President are responding appropriately. I'm not super rich and I'm better off now than ever. My view is that most who are complaining are not even registered to vote. Clear and concise plan??? Ask Obama where he is getting the $150billion and what programs is he cutting that don't work anymore. The democratic party is all about big govt and more taxes and the republican party is less govt and less taxes. Some of these remarks are just petty and without substance. The government whether republican or democrat is not concerned about paying off the debt. It's all about politics. KKTV, you are still great in my eyes!

Naturally El Paso County will find fault with the DNC..that is what Republicans are so good at..finding fault with any Democrat..what a shame..people let Rush and Dr Laura, etc do their thinking for them..When are the citizens of El Paso County going to learn to think for themselves, not Democrat, not Republican. Just think independently and vote for the best person for the job..I never did feel that President Bush was ready to lead. I did not vote for him. His arrogant attitude and bullying personality has taken its toll on our nation..Still people want to defend him. I've liked McCain and read his book..he's fought for his country and is admirable in that respect..But, I won't vote for him because our country is suffering with the phenominal war expenses. And McCain still wants to continue the fighting..enough already!!

What CHANGE is Obama planning. From his campaign, all I see is the continued support of abortion, that is a large part of the housing slump. Also he promises to fund public education that is teaching our children to enter a system w/ 98% failure rate. Clinton's administration did not have to fund a two-front war, because instead of removing Bin Laden when we were practically given him, Bill was under his desk w/ Lewinski. Lastly the Demobrats want to turn this into the land of the free handout, not the land of opportunity, still campaigning on failed platforms of taxing those who provide jobs to others, forcing Derek Jeter to pay for the health care of a rec league backup infielder, and basically still trying blame the wealthy for being ready for their opportunity and reward the rest who were not ready for their's.

I was very unimpressed with channel 11 News last night. They spent more time covering the clueless Republican response to the convention, than they did on the actual convention. Got a few Republicans running things over there? So much for unbiased reporting.

The Republicans have had their run and the country, and just about everyone in it (except the super rich) are much worse off. What a disaster the Bush administration has been. I can't think of one thing they did right. Just look at the national debt - there was a surplus under Clinton. The Republicans bill themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility, but they've been spending money like a bunch of drunken sailors on shore leave. No wonder more of us (including myself) are leaving the Republican Party.

more about style than substance? a rock star? a celebrity? you give him those terms!! republicans always attack that which threatens them McCain- he should do ads for geritol - then he would be a celebrity for sure

What I see is the Demorcrats have a clear, consise plan, and the Republicans are runing around in little circles drooling on themselves. they dont have their convention ready, some of their key players aren't even showing up, and McCain doesn't even know who to run with. All the guys he used to hang out with are either in jail or exiled. Obamas plan is simple... CHANGE. what we have isnt working, so we need to find something better. The Republican party is dying, like how they declared the democrats last election.

Greg Garcia is a conservative fool and he makes me want to throw up. He says John McCain has hero power. I say John McCain has scumbag power just like Bush. McCain is the best hope of the obscene wealthy to get their flunky in chief in the White House so they can finish stealing America.
