The weather is nice, so it's time to get outside with the entire family and enjoy all that Colorado has to offer! Families with youngsters who want to try their hand at archery, shooting, fishing or a host of other outdoor adventures are invited to Mueller State Park Sunday, May 19 for a Youth Outdoor Adventure Day. The day will be filled with lots of activities including: .22 rifle target shooting, archery, fishing, shotgun clay pigeons, hiking, geocaching, camping, and living and playing in bear country. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will furnish all equipment. The activities are free, but you must have a $7 parks pass per vehicle.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife will also host the First Annual “Family Fishing Festival,” 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 18 at Lake Pueblo State Park.
Spin cast poles and bait will be given out on a first come basis. Anglers can take a lesson and then apply what they have learned by fishing in Anticline Pond. Wildlife officers will even help you clean your fish and give you a recipe to cook them when you get home. Prizes and give away items will be available while supplies last.
You can also explore "indoors" during a Family Adventure Day on Saturday, May 18. It's at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Saturday, May 18. Spend the day with your family being creative! Bemis instructors lead hands-on art activities that explore the theme of pets. All ages and skill levels welcomed. The event is free.
