A party of "epic proportion" is coming to downtown Colorado Springs on Friday, July 27. The city is hosting a street party to celebrate the kickoff of the 2012 Summer Olympics. You'll be able to view the opening ceremony live from London on a giant screen, skate on synthetic "ice," play tennis in the street, watch BMX bike tricks, and even see Olympians Kristi Yamaguchi and Bret Hedican light the local torch. There will also be a performance country star Rodney Atkins. It's happening from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. in front of the USOC Headquarters, at the corner of Colorado Avenue and Tejon Avenue.
Here's a way to support businesses closed by the Waldo Canyon fire and save money in the process. Pick up a Manitou Card, which offers discounts at 30 Manitou Springs businesses. You can use it every day through February 23. They're just $10 at the Manitou Chamber of Commerce.
