Unemployment numbers inched up slightly from April to May, going from 7.5 percent to 7.6 percent.

The increase is due to more people looking for work, which is a positive sign for the economy.

The Labor Department says 175,000 jobs were added, with the biggest gains being in food service, retail and in some professional industries such as engineering, health care, and computer systems design.

Government workers decreased in May, continuing a three-month trend.

In general, May's report indicates that the economy is continuing to make modest improvements.
