US Stocks Edge Higher Ahead Of Facebook IPO

Excitement about Facebook's initial public offering is helping drive U.S. stocks slightly higher at the opening bell.

A few minutes into morning trading, the Dow Jones industrial average is up 8 points at 12,450. The Standard & Poor's 500 index is up two points at 1,307. The Nasdaq is off five at 2,807.

Facebook shares don't start trading until 11 a.m. Eastern.

Higher stocks prices would be a relief for investors. The Dow has fallen in 11 of the past 12 trading days, including a loss of 156 points on Thursday. It's now down 6 percent so far this month.
