Strong Holiday Shopping Season Up 15 Percent From 2010

Last minute shoppers helped push sales up 4.5 percent during the week before Christmas.

Americans spent a record $35 billion online this holiday season, up 15 percent compared to last year. The 2011 holiday shopping season was bigger than anyone projected.

The next big shopping wave is expected to come when people start cashing in their gift cards.
