There's some good news for motorists plagued by high gas prices for much of the year.
Gas prices in Colorado Springs are now the lowest they have been all summer.
Prices have been going down across the country over the last few months, but have been slow to decrease in Colorado Springs, hovering closer to $4 even as some states were reporting gas near $3.
The average price of gas in Colorado Springs has finally dropped below the national average of $3.50, and now stands at $3.43. This is 50 cents lower than it was in April.
When compared to prices at this time last year, it appears Colorado Springs is right back to where it was a year ago.
Statewide, the average price of gas matches the national average, standing at $3.50.
