DENVER (AP) -- Colorado State University has teamed up with Google to host online video chats in an effort to reach prospective students.
The Denver Post reports that over the past couple of years, about 40 percent of the applications the university received from high school students were "stealth," meaning there was no previous contact between the student and the school.
CSU admissions director Bryan Whish says that led the school to "try to go where the students are." And since it involves many teenagers, that means going online and using social media.
The first chat was held in early October and drew about 108 "live" viewers, with another 500 or so dropping in later after it was posted on YouTube. A second chat held at the end of the month drew 260 participants, and CSU officials are still logging the ongoing views.
