Audi To Buy Italian Motorbike Maker Ducati

Posted: Wed 10:46 AM, Apr 18, 2012

BERLIN (AP) -- Volkswagen AG's Audi unit says it will buy Italian motorcycle maker Ducati Motor Holding SpA from Investindustrial Group.

Audi did not disclose the purchase price in announcing the deal. It said the acquisition was approved Wednesday by the supervisory boards of both Audi and parent Volkswagen.

Audi says the deal "will be completed as quickly as possible" once antitrust authorities have approved it.

Ducati is based in Bologna and has some 1,100 employees. Last year, it sold about 42,000 motorcycles and had revenue of some (euro) 480 million ($630 million).
