President Barack Obama is inviting state officials to a White House conference on how best to spend money from the stimulus bill.
The White House says the conference next Thursday is intended to make clear the need for effective, transparent and efficient spending of the money. Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus measure last month.
Each governor is invited to send a senior official to the White House event. Cabinet members and other administration officials will speak.
