The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Friday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.2683, down from US$1.2749 late Thursday in New York.

--97.47 Japanese yen, down from 98.38
--1.1715 Swiss francs, up from 1.1650
--1.2581 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2490
The British pound was quoted at $1.4196, down from $1.4310.
Gold traded in London at $943.75 per troy ounce, up from $936.50 late Thursday.
