WASHINGTON (AP) -- President George W. Bush says that while the current economic crisis has sent shock waves around the world, his administration has taken steps that laid the groundwork for recovery.
Bush painted a mostly optimistic look at the future in his final economic report to the nation. While allowing that challenges remain, Bush says the American economy has consistently proven its strength and resilience in the face of multiple shocks to the system.
Bush says actions taken by his administration in response to the financial crisis "have laid the groundwork for a return to economic growth and job creation."
